Hubble Space Telescope Project

Jackson and Tull is a major subcontractor on the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) contract at Goddard Space Flight Center. To support HST’s launch and early orbit operations, Jackson and Tull systems engineers supplied around-the-clock support to the Hubble Space Telescope Operations Control Center. We continue to support operations at the control center by coordinating investigations and upgrades related to target acquisition and providing control systems expertise.

Jackson and Tull designed and developed NASA’s Vehicle Electrical System Test (VEST) Facility. The VEST is a high-fidelity testbed that replicates the HST spacecraft, its operations, and its ground support system. Jackson and Tull continues to use the VEST to support troubleshooting, perform failure analysis, and check new software before it is uplinked to HST.

Jackson and Tull has conducted a full range of engineering services to support HST servicing missions, including the building of flight hardware and testing of all mission hardware at the VEST.

Jackson and Tull personnel continue to provide software and hardware flight integration and test support, facility operations and maintenance; flight hardware; engineering support services; and documentation and other support services to HST.

Jackson and Tull is a prime subcontractor to LMSC on NASA’s recent $330.6 million contract to design and build a robot spaceship to carry replacement parts to the Hubble Space Telescope to keep it operating for five to seven years. The agency granted the "De-Orbit Module" contract to Denver-based Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. on Sept. 24., 2004
